The opening ceremony of CHITOSE Carbon Capture Central (C4) was held in Sarawak, Malaysia.

On May 10, 2023, Chitose Group, Sarawak Biodiversity Center, and Sarawak Energy Berhad jointly held an opening ceremony for CHITOSE Carbon Capture Central (C4) in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister Karimata of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, members of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as partner companies and financial institutions participating in MATSURI. From Malaysia, Prime Minister Aban Johari, who is the top leader of Sarawak , and other guests, including government officials, attended the event.

The opening of C4, the world's largest algae production facility, attracted a great deal of interest and attention locally, and was reported on TV programs and was featured on the front pages of newspapers. It is also reported that algae produced in C4 is expected to be applied to SAF (sustainable aviation fuel), etc., and that C4 is a milestone for the next industrial scale production of algae in tropical climates.
