5 hectares, the largest in the world, is still a passing phase
World's first project to build an "algae" industry
The world's largest algae production facility!
Carbon dioxide fixation amounts to 700 tons per year.
"Algae" production at 350 tons per year, the highest level in the world
"Algae" is transformed into fuel, plastic, paint, food, cosmetics, etc.

Wow, it's so spacious. What are you making here?
This is the world's largest plant for growing algae. Do you know what algae is, Kenta?
Yes, I know, but...I've never seen such a big place to build! It's big enough to play a lot of soccer! But will the algae grow properly here?
It was, it was...we were all working very hard to get here. It took a lot of sunlight and a lot of carbon dioxide to keep the algae healthy in such a large facility. You know "photosynthesis," don't you, Kenta? Algae are plants, so they need to be photosynthesized.
Photosynthesis? I learned it! I grew morning glories for summer homework! Hmm? But isn't carbon dioxide in the air? If that's the case, then the algae would suck it from the air on its own...
That's a good question. Take a closer look. You see how the algae in this facility is contained in the vinyl? That's why we had to put a lot of CO2 directly into the vinyl, not from the air.
Oh, really. But how do you send enough CO2 to keep the algae healthy over such a large area?
Yes, it's very clever. That's one of the features of this facility. See that chimney in the back? That's a thermal power plant burning coal. That power plant sends carbon dioxide to all of these large facilities. So, you see, the algae grows and grows and grows, and in three days, it grows into a great algae.
Wow that's great! Mom also said we need to reduce CO2, so this will suck up more and more algae!
That's right! Algae" can be transformed into various forms such as fuel, plastic, and food after it grows by absorbing carbon dioxide, which the whole world is in trouble with now. That's why this project is attracting attention from all over the world! By the time Kenta grows up, I am sure that many things will be made from algae. This will help protect the environment and create a prosperous future for the earth. I hope you will support this project too, Kenta. Will you tell everyone at your school about this project?
Yeah! I promise! I'll tell all my friends at school! And we'll all protect the future of the Earth! Then we can play a lot of soccer. Algae is amazing! I didn't know it could be reborn into so many different things. Thank you, Dr. Fujita!
