On Wednesday, June 19th, Chitose Group CEO Tomohiro Fujita gave a speech entitled "Trends in Bioeconomy and Chitose Group's Strategy" at Tokuyama Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Tokuyama).
Tokuyama has been participating in MATSURI, a project to build an algae-based industry since 2022.
Tokuyama is a long-established chemical manufacturer founded in 1918, but it is also focusing on the bio-business and is working towards becoming carbon neutral. In this context, we received a request from Tokuyama to introduce the efforts of the Chitose Group, which is promoting the bioeconomy, to employees within the company, and this lecture was made possible.
Approximately 50 people participated in the lecture, including online attendees, including senior managing director Iwasaki and senior managing director Inoue, as well as employees from the Research and Development Division.

During his lecture, Fujita discussed the bioeconomy, which is expected to reach a market size of 4000 trillion yen by 2030. He also discussed the topic of starting new businesses, talking in detail about the perspectives that should be kept in mind when starting a business and mechanisms for maintaining that mindset.
The participants seemed to be very interested in the theme of starting new businesses. After the lecture, they asked a wide range of questions, from bioeconomy to human resource development, and there was a lively exchange of opinions.
I hope that this presentation will help to give momentum to Tokuyama's business promotion and further collaboration between Tokuyama and Chitose Group.

MATSURI Project
https://matsuri.chitose-bio.com/
This project is led by Chitose Group, which has strengths in large-scale algae production and commercialization using solar power as the only energy source, and is working with companies and the government to build an algae industry that has never been achieved before. As the name MATSURI, which stands for MicroAlgae Towards Sustainable and Resilient Industry, suggests, we will create a sustainable society through the use of algae, making this a festival that will remain in the history of mankind. At MATSURI, we look forward to the participation of even more companies, regardless of industry or size, in building an algae industry. Please contact us here .
