From Saturday, September 28th to Sunday, September 29th, 2024, we exhibited at Global Festa JAPAN 2024, introducing the creation of an algae-based circular society to replace the oil industry. Global Festa JAPAN 2024 is one of the largest events in Japan, with participation from various public and private organizations working on international cooperation and SDGs. This year marked the 70th anniversary of Japan's start of Official Development Assistance (ODA) in 1954, and a total of 74,130 people participated in the event, both in person and online, providing a valuable opportunity to introduce Chitose's algae industry to many people.
At the Chitose booth, we exhibited crude oils, colorings, and food derived from algae, as well as a handmade miniature model of a photobioreactor (PBR, a device that efficiently uses light energy to grow algae in a small amount of water). We also provided an experience for general visitors to feel that algae is familiar to them by offering them the opportunity to try dressings made from spirulina and tasting juice. Both days were a great success, with many people of all ages visiting. We will continue to convey the appeal and potential of algae to as many people as possible through various activities and exhibits.

We had the opportunity to introduce our activities, which are mainly in Southeast Asia. We provided visitors with an opportunity to learn about the characteristics, advantages, and diverse uses of microalgae, and to think about "a future society based on algae." We would like to continue to create a place where more people can be surprised and say, "I didn't know you could eat algae!" and become interested in algae, thinking, "Algae is amazing!" We would like to thank the organizers and management for their support, and everyone who stopped by the Chitose booth.
