On Wednesday, October 2, CHITOSE Group hosted the “MATSURI General Meeting” for the first half of 2024, with around 300 attendees joining both in person and online.
The event featured speakers from both CHITOSE and its partner companies, focusing on the project’s future strategy, expansion policies, challenges, and progress, including updates on the construction of the 100-hectare microalgae production facility in Malaysia.
This year’s networking event, held after the general session, featured an exhibition area showcasing new algae-based products, such as accessories, dumplings, and traditional Japanese arare rice crackers. Additionally, CHITOSE highlighted several recent initiatives, including a gut microbiome management system and bio-production technologies.
This year’s event also featured participation from Nagaoka City, a MATSURI partner which earlier developed resource recycling solutions in collaboration with CHITOSE. As a special gesture, Nagaoka City shared local sake with participants, celebrating the city’s renowned rice-production heritage.
Launched in 2021 as a collaboration among twenty partner institutions, the MATSURI project now nears hundred partner institutions—a milestone in our efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and advance a future in which algae-derived products enhance daily life. We will continue to welcome new allies while strengthening our bonds with existing partners.
In closing, we extend our sincere gratitude to all the partners who participated in the MATSURI General Meeting this time.
