On Wednesday, July 17th, Chitose Group CEO Tomohiro Fujita gave a lecture entitled "Trends in Bioeconomy and Chitose Group's Strategy" at Iwatani Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Iwatani). Iwatani has been participating in MATSURI, a project to build an algae-based industry since 2024. Iwatani is developing a comprehensive energy business centered on LP gas and portable stoves, an industrial gas business such as hydrogen, and a material business derived from these. As Iwatani is also focusing on efforts toward a decarbonized and sustainable society, we received a request to widely introduce the efforts of the Chitose Group to promote the bioeconomy within Iwatani, and this lecture was realized. People from a wide range of departments participated in this lecture.
In his lecture, Fujita spoke about the bioeconomy, which is expected to reach a market size of 4,000 trillion yen by 2030, and also gave examples of business development in various fields based on the experience of launching many new businesses within the Chitose Group, and talked about points to keep in mind when starting a new business. During the Q&A session, various questions were asked, including about algae production, product development using algae and its business development, Chitose's stance on life cycle assessment, and how to solve problems related to starting a new business. The lively discussion continued until the very end of the lecture, providing a meaningful opportunity for an exchange of opinions.
We hope that sharing the knowledge of Chitose Group in this presentation will accelerate the business promotion of Iwatani Corporation and advance the collaboration between Iwatani Corporation and Chitose Group.
