Maito Design Works, which manufactures natural dyeing products, called plant dyeing, based on the concept of being friendly to nature and people, and CHITOSE, which conducts R&D to preserve an affluent world a thousand years into the future, have collaborated.

Today, traditional plant dyeing is  attracting attention once again. Maito Design Works has challenged for the first time to dye with "algae" with the pride of craftsmanship.
What kind of works will be created when "plant dyeing," which enriches people's lives with the wide array of colors of plants, and "algae," which supports a new industry, meet? We look forward to your support!

100 Crafts Challenges Vol.2 "Possibility of Craft x Dyeing" ---Dreaming of the day when we dye thread and wear clothes with algae-dyeing.

The second trial of "100 Crafts Challenges", which started with the idea of increasing the number of algae products in familiar places, is a collaboration with "plant dyeing"! In this age of plenty, Maito Design Works says they want to create products that value Japanese traditions, craftsmanship, and nature that provide us with blessings. What kind of works will be created when they meet "algae," a natural material that supports a new industry? The collaboration was realized with the idea that if threads were dyed, they became cloth, and if they became cloth, "algae" would be more familiar.

Rikako, Developer

If you dye cloth, then they have to be something you can wear in everyday life!

Chris, Designer and Researcher

Dyeing with algae is unprecedented after all, so I want to ask a dyer who is always up for challenges.

Mr. Kusaki-Z

Algae sounds interesting! I've dyed all kinds of plants and trees, but I've never tried with that.

Mr. Spiru

Hey! Why don’t you use my blue? Here you go!

Mr. Kusaki-Z

Wow! What a stunning blue!

Chlamy

Wait, not just Spiru's blue! I wonder what kind of green I can be.

Rikako, Developer

Sounds fantastic! Well, you two, go ahead, will you? I can't wait to see what unexpected colors you will turn.

Chris, Designer and Researcher

Yes, I think you both will turn great colors.

Mr. Kusaki-Z

Then let's make the best one with my skill and the inherent beauty of yours.

Chlamy

Wonderful! I can be a beautiful dress someday ✨

Mr. Spiru

I can't wait to see what colors we will be!
