On October 17th (Tuesday), Chitose Group held the " FY2023 First Half MATSURI General Meeting", which was attended by over 300 people both domestically and internationally online. Following the MATSURI activity report from Chitose Group Representative Fujita, the progress report on algae production equipment and C4 (CHITOSE Carbon Capture Central) by Chief BioEngineer Hoshino, Professor Igarashi of the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo, Mr. Okabe, Vice President of Shiseido Co., Ltd. Mr. Fukui, Representative Director of Musashi Paint Holdings Co., Ltd., and Mr. Kamimoto, Senior Managing Executive Officer of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (in order of presentation) also took the stage.
At the social gathering, an exhibition space was set up to display MATSURI's ``Hyakunin Kumite'' algae products and ``algae-derived food'' sweets, as well as Chitose's other businesses such as medical cells, healthcare, bioproduction, and Chitose Agribase. We have introduced it to you. Members who are not normally involved directly with MATSURI (algae business) gathered at this "festival" and actively interacted to promote Chitose's technology to everyone in attendance. We showed the actual equipment used in our research and explained our research using posters, allowing everyone to experience Chitose's passion for more than just the algae business.
The MATSURI project started in 2021 with 20 organizations in 9 industries. We are very grateful that we now have over 70 partner institutions, and we have been able to increase the number of like-minded people to the point where over 300 people attend the MATSURI general meeting. Every day, together with our colleagues, we are striving to build the world's first algae industry while facing challenges. The Mochitose Group will continue to gather more members and strengthen relationships with existing partners so that we can break away from fossil fuel dependence as soon as possible and see the day when algae-derived products truly support people's lives. We will continue to deepen our efforts. Once again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the partners who participated on the day.
