MATSURI is cooperating with the special lecture at the University of Tokyo, "Colloquium on the Creation of Symbiotic New Industries Based on Microalgae.”

The "Symbiotic New Industry Creation Colloquium" will be held at the University of Tokyo from October 2024.

This course is being implemented as a special course by the One Earth Guardians Development Program (※1) of the Graduate School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, which has been adopted by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization). The course aims to develop human resources who will contribute to the creation of new industries that are in harmony with the environment, using microalgae as a base.

Chitose Group, which is leading the MATSURI project, aims to develop human resources who can contribute to the creation of a "new symbiotic industry" that will achieve people's well-being while living in harmony with the environment. We plan to hold not only lectures but also hands-on training, workshops, fieldwork, etc. on the subject of microalgae, and are fully cooperating with this course to provide opportunities for learning and interaction in actual industrial settings.

The course is targeted at participants from the workforce, including companies, as well as university and graduate students, with the aim of promoting interaction between the two groups and enabling discussion from a wide range of perspectives.

Specifically, these lectures are scheduled:

・Chitose Group CEO Tomohiro Fujita will attend the orientation for this course on October 10th.

・On October 17th, Executive Officer/Chief BioEngineer Takahito Hoshino gave a lecture on the topic of "Large-scale production of microalgae."

・On October 24th, Executive Officer/Chief Innovation Officer Ken Kasahara will give a lecture on the topic of "Application Development of Algae Biomass."

Lectures by MATSURI partner companies are also planned for 2025 and beyond.

We are also planning an opportunity for participants to visit CHITOSE Carbon Capture Central (C4), the world's largest algae production facility (※2) that CHITOSE opened in Sarawak, Malaysia, covering an area of 5 hectares.
